Americano Foods co-owners and siblings Denise and Jeff Malkoon were inspired to help after the Beirut explosion last August.
After Americano Foods promised to use all of the proceeds from its online sales in September for relief efforts in Beirut, FirstBank agreed to raise the money raised during the month, according to a press release.
Americano Foods’ efforts raised $ 4,075, and FirstBank funds raised the total to $ 8,150 to be donated to the Children’s Cancer Center in Lebanon.
The Malkoon siblings, Phoenicians of Lebanese descent in the third generation, wanted to help vulnerable people like the patients at the children’s cancer center in Lebanon.
The Beirut-based Children’s Cancer Center in Lebanon is a subsidiary of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, which cares for childhood cancer patients of all ages.
“As the city of Beirut works to rebuild after this disaster, we hope that this contribution will help the CCCL continue its life-saving mission,” said Malkoon in a prepared statement. “We would like to thank everyone for participating in our campaign and thank FirstBank for their support to redouble our efforts.”
“FirstBank prides itself on helping companies and organizations doing good here and around the world,” said Joel Johnson, FirstBank Arizona Market President, in a prepared statement.
“We were inspired by the generous efforts of Americano Foods to support the Beirut community and CCCL after the explosion in August, and we are honored to use the Americano Foods donation for such a well-deserved cause.”
Americano Foods and FirstBank first worked together when Americano Foods was published to win FirstBank’s $ 20,000 GoodB Giveaway, a competition designed to honor companies who do a good job in the community.
FirstBank and Americano Foods also coordinated a marketing campaign in support of St. Mary’s Food Bank in 2019, the press release said.
Founded in 2013, Americano Foods is considered a nutritious spread company based in Phoenix. Americano Foods designs, manufactures, and sells nut butters products in a wide variety of flavors with products in thousands of stores including Arizona Sprouts, Fry’s, and AJs.
