IRVINE, Calif .– (BUSINESS WIRE) – World-renowned City of Hope cancer research and treatment center has received a $ 50 million gift from the Lennar Foundation, the nonprofit of the Lennar Corporation construction company. This transformative gift of hope is the largest single philanthropic contribution to the Orange County’s City of Hope. This will accelerate the health organization’s bold plans to invest $ 1 billion to develop and operate a comprehensive cancer campus in Irvine, California, and to build a network of advanced cancer care and research in Orange County that delivers breakthrough treatments directly to a community will accelerate with growing needs.

The Lennar Foundation’s future 190,000 square foot cancer center in the city of Hope Orange County will be located on 11 acres in Five Point’s Great Park in the heart of Irvine. It will provide world-class cancer treatment, groundbreaking research and life-saving treatments to the 3.2 million residents of the county. Construction of the comprehensive cancer center, which will open in 2022, is already underway. In addition, Orange County’s only hospital dedicated solely to the treatment and cure of cancer will open in City of Hope Irvine in 2025.
City of Hope’s Orange County presence provides local access to the City of Hope’s Comprehensive Cancer Center, designated by the National Cancer Institute, of world-renowned cancer doctors and researchers focused solely on finding better treatments and cures.
The Lennar Foundation Cancer Center in the City of Hope Orange County will provide the area with a number of outstanding services including:
- Local access to 1,000+ doctors and researchers who transform laboratory breakthroughs into targeted treatments that offer patients the best hope
- Access to hundreds of clinical trials bringing 21st century treatments to cancer patients meeting clinical criteria soon after they have been developed.
- A range of treatment options – from chemotherapy to immunotherapy and more – to fight even the most aggressive cancers
- New ways to prevent and treat early-stage cancer, including targeted genomics and breakthroughs in precision medicine
- Nationally recognized support programs, based on more than a century of compassionate care, help patients and their families overcome the psychosocial problems that can accompany serious illness

The Lennar Foundation gift to City of Hope is a generous continuation of Lennar’s longstanding support for the comprehensive cancer center. City of Hope Newport Beach, the first phase of City of Hope Orange County’s expansion, opened in early 2020 and for the first time provides Orange County’s residents with local access to world-renowned doctors supported by the powerful City of Hope network. City of Hope plans to open additional clinical network locations in the region.
